Top 10 drinks world records

What is the most expensive cocktail ever made, and who made it? Which is the world’s most expensive wine and what is the world’s strongest beer? These and other questions are answered.

Penfolds AmpouleIn 1951 Sir Hugh Beaver, then managing director of the Guinness brewery, asked the members of his shooting party: “What is Europe’s fastest game bird?” A heated argument followed and despite searching their host’s reference library the answer could not be found.

Sir Hugh decided then that creating a “definitive book containing superlative facts and answers would be of great use to the general public.” In 1955 the first Guinness Book of Records was published, and it has been hugely popular ever since.

Now called simply “Guinness World Records” people all over the world, do love the challenge of becoming a world record holder. World records are spread over all aspects of life and work and the drinks business is no different.
