Barefoot Wine reports successful beach project

Californian wine brand, Barefoot Wine, has reported a successful year for its Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project – with more than 1,000 volunteers taking part in a series of coastal community events across the UK.

The project works in partnership with Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) and encourages local communities to come together at 14 beach clean events between April and Ausgust. The volunteers collect litter and help to leave the beach ‘barefoot friendly’.

This is the second year that the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project has taken place, clearing more than 4 tonnes of litter – 1.5 tonnes more than last year – and the equivalent of 10,000 empty plastic bottles, which would create a pile nearly 24 times the length of Blackpool Tower.

After each of the beach clean events, Barefoot Wine provided complimentary glasses of Barefoot Wine and a free organic cotton Barefoot Wine t-shirt for every person.

Barefoot Wine Marketing Manager, Yona Ellis, comments: “It’s fantastic to see that the results from this campaign are growing year-on-year. The Barefoot ethos is all about strong ties with the environment and engaging with local communities.

“We’ve been keeping beaches barefoot friendly in the US for over 20 years, and it’s fantastic to build this program in the UK.”

“The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project is a unique way for us to ‘give back’ to local communities, as well as enabling us to interact directly with consumers”
