What is your idea of perfect happiness?

It doesn’t exist, however, if we all could live in harmony, happiness wouldn’t be far away.

What is your greatest fear?

To die in ill health.

Who do you most admire?

My twin daughters Anna and Sophie for their different life designs and their love of life.

What is your greatest extravagance?

The luxury of time to chill out and do very little at the weekend.

What is your current state of mind?
Confused. I used to have a clear idea about how the world works, nowadays, I have no idea where this planet is headed.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Femininity.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

That changes so often, but I am partial to the word “super”.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?

Apart from my family and God, it’s definitely my passion for wine.

When and where were you happiest?

The minute after the twins were born and I held them in my arms.

Which talent would you most like to have?

The four cardinal virtues: wisdom – moderation – fairness – courage.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would like to be more persistent.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Following in the footsteps of my family in terms of being a pioneer for Grüner Veltliner and Austrian wine.

Where would you most like to live?

Wherever grapes grow I am happy.

What is your most treasured possession?

Trust in my colleagues, trust in God and trust in myself.

What is your most marked characteristic?

The ability to excite people.

Who are your favorite writers?

Goethe for his language and wisdom, and Thomas Friedmann for his understanding of the world.

Who is your hero of fiction?

Superman of course.

What is it that you most dislike?

Dishonesty.

What is your greatest regret?

I don’t really have any.

What is your motto?

To love, to serve, and to try again.

Who would be your ideal dinner party guests and what wines would you serve them?

It would be a mixed bunch – Franklin D. Roosevelt, Mahatma Gandhi and Angela Merkel. To get the conversation flowing, I’d serve them a top Austrian Grüner Veltliner to show what the grape can do, a top German Riesling because I love it, and to balance things out, a top Californian red.
