Top 10 biggest Champagne brands

We count down the world’s largest Champagne brands according to case sales and consider their performance over the last year.

Moët & Chandon continue to head the list, but the overall tone of 2011 was of volume losses – with Nicolas Feuillatte one of the few brands to notice growth.

Over the following pages is a brief health check of the world’s 10 biggest Champagnes, complete with their latest news, as well as volume sales figures for 2011 and 2010.

This information first featured in the annual Brands Report by the drinks business, released with the July issue.

    Is it a true statement that the word “Champaign” is the Original word owned by Champagne France?

    All white sparkling wines made in America, etc. have to legally state origin of the sparkling wine as well.
    Example : “American Champagne”

    • all the champagnes are sparkling wine but all sparkling wines not the champagne because there is a wine region in France which is called champagne those sparkling wines produce in this region called champagne & rest all wine region in the world can produce only sparkling wines not the champagne

    The United States was in prohibition when that treaty was signed , they never did! So technically the U.S. wine makers can call their sparkling wine anything they want!

    Sperkling wine> the white sperkling wine from champagne reagion which has been processed by methode champonnaise is called champagne.that means all the champagne are sperkling wine but not all sperkling wine are champagne. Thank you so much.
