Spanish star wins on-trade accolade

Abel Lusa was recognised for his “innovation in a struggling category” when he picked up the Freixenet On-trade Business Person of the Year prize at The Drinks Business Awards 2012.

Abel Lusa receives his award from Freixenet's Damian Clarke

Last year, Lusa added to his three existing London restaurants, Cambio de Tercio, Tendido Cero and Tendido Cuatro with the launch of a dedicated Sherry bar, Capote y Toros.

Between them, these destinations have become impressively vibrant ambassadors for the best of Spanish lifestyle and cuisine.

Announcing the award, Damian Clarke, managing director of Freixenet UK, observed: “When it comes to Spain he is the man who started to put Spanish cuisine, wine and Sherry back on the map – especially on the London restaurant scene.”
