Pringuet in line to head French business group

Pernod Ricard CEO, Pierre Pringuet, has been tipped to become the next president of French business lobby group Association Française des Enterprises Privées (AFEP).

Local reports in the French media have named Pringuet as the most likely candidate to replace Maurice Levy, CEO of Publicis Groupe a major advertising firm.

Levy, who has been in charge since 2010, resigned from the post last month.

He resigned over a furore connected to his €16 million in delayed bonuses which were tied to his work at Publicis from 2003 to 2011.

The French newspaper that broke the story, Les Echos, stated: “According to our sources, it is Pierre Pringuet, the managing director of Pernod Ricard, who will succeed Maurice Levy to the presidency of the AFEP, the assocition representing the interests of the 100 biggest French companies.”

The AFEP board is due to meet next week to discuss a successor and Pernod Ricard stressed that, “nothing has been decided yet”.
