ASC to handle Ornellaia in China
ASC Fine Wines has announced the addition of Tenuta dell”Ornellaia to its portfolio in China and Hong Kong.
From 1 January 2012 the Tuscan estate will join the likes of Lafite in ASC’s stable of upmarket labels.
The Ornellaia Estate in the Bolgheri, Tuscany, was founded in 1981 by Marquis Ludovico Antinori and comprises Le Volte dell’Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia and the flagship, Ornellaia.
The highly exclusive Super Tuscan, Massetto, is also made at the property, but is not part of the distribution tie-up.
On average 11,000 cases each year are made of the famous Ornellaia, which currently trades at more than £1,000 a case for any of the last 10 vintages.
Its standard blend consists of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.
Rival Super Tuscan Sassicaia is distributed by Aussino in mainland China.
