Wine Rack expansion picks up pace

The new owners of retailer brand Wine Rack have invested in four more store openings in the last two months.

The previously First Quench-owned retailer now has 18 stores, and plans are afoot for three more to open before Christmas.

Speaking of the expansion, Laki Christoforou, chairman of Wine Rack, said: “Our strategy to offer a range of interesting wines from smaller producers and less branded wines is working well and average spend per customer is above target.

“We also offer a wide range of spirits in every Wine Rack store and we shall be making some superb offers on both wines and spirits in the run up to Christmas.

“We plan to continue the expansion of our Wine Rack business,” he added.

All Wine Rack stores, which are owned by UK independent wholesaler Venus, now operate free wine tastings during the weekends and all list more than 500 wines, 200 spirits and 150 beers, ales and ciders.
