More tricks for the on-trade at third Wine+

There’s just over one week to go until doors open for Britain’s dedicated on-trade event, Wine+. Visitors can expect a range of exhibitors, seminars and tastings, as well as a focus on trading during the recession at this, the third Wine+.

The Tasting Theatre, Business Clinic and French Wines Discovery Lounge are back while an interactive programme of presentations and tastings has been created to reflect the needs of the UK’s on-trade. Consultants and operators will be sharing best-practice techniques and highlighting business opportunities in this challenging economic climate.

The Tasting Theatre will host six tutored tasting/pairing sessions each day, including Cheese-off: Is wine the best match? Choc-off: What pairs best with chocolate? and Wine-off: Challenging the basics of pairing.

The Wine+ Business Clinic will then cover topics such as recession-proofing wine lists, retaining customers and marketing effectively.

Speakers will include:
• Richard Bigg (owner, Camino Bar & Restaurant)
• Will Beckett (director, The Underdog Group)
• Andrew Connor (head sommelier, The Lanesborough Hotel);
•  Eileen Ginger (wine and spirits buyer, Whitbread Plc);
•  Roger Jones (The Harrow, Little Bedwyn);
•  Peter McCombie MW (consultant);
•  Patricia Michelson (La Fromagerie);
•  Christine Parkinson, (wine buyer, Hakkasan Group);
•  Simon Treanor (wine sales consultant);
•  Mike Worrall (restaurant manager, Cinnamon Club);
•  Paul A Young (chocolatier, Paul A Young Fine Chocolates).

Sessions will be presented by The Academy of Food and Wine; The Academy of Chocolate; WSET; the drinks business; Harpers and The Publican.

Participation in the Business Clinic and the Tasting Theatre is free (on a first come first served basis) to all pre-registered Wine+ visitors.
