Australia in search of brightest talent

Wine Australia is launching Landmark Australia Tutorial 2009, a scholarship programme for 12 members of the international trade. Successful candidates will attend an intensive five-day course in Australia hosted by some of the country’s leading experts.

The inaugural competition, based in the Barossa Valley, is “an invitation to the best and brightest international wine talent.”

The course is open to members of the trade with extensive wine experience. The candidates’ experience can be drawn from different sectors of the trade such as buying, selling or editorial decision-making. However, all must demonstrate the way in which they have influenced their business over the last two years.

Presenters of the course read like a Who’s Who of the Australian wine scene. The three tutors are Tony Jordan, Michael Hill Smith and Andrew Caillard MW while guest tutors include James Halliday and Peter Gago.

The entry deadline is 28 November 2008 and the course will take place in June 2009. For further information about the competition visit http://www.wineaustralia.com/landmark
