ON-TRADE NEWS: Brizard hits Bordeaux
Bordeaux hosted the 24th International Bartender Seminar last month.
The event bought together 120 bartenders from around the world to discuss cocktail trends, and culminated in a cocktail competition.
Taking place over five days, the event was organised by Marie Brizard together with the International Bartenders Association and the Association des Barmen de France.
In the cocktail competition, 30 teams from diverse countries were each called on to create a short drink and a long drink using a compulsory Marie Brizard cocktail base.
While the cocktail culture in markets such as the UK is well established, an increase in popularity in other countries was predicted at the seminar, something confirmed by a French team taking first place in the competition, followed closely by a Bulgarian and then a Spanish team.
